About sunrisewhen.com

sunrisewhen.com provides free sunrise, sunset, golden hour, blue hour, and UV index data for cities worldwide. The site is designed to give you the information you need at a glance. No clutter, no account required.

Whether you're a photographer planning a golden hour shoot, a runner timing your morning route, or simply curious when the sun sets today.

How it works

Sunrise, sunset, twilight, golden hour, blue hour, moon phase and the clear-sky UV estimate are calculated on our server with the open-source Astral library and published as static pages, so these values do not depend on an external API. Live weather, cloud cover and the UV forecast are loaded in your browser from Open-Meteo; for that request your browser connects directly to Open-Meteo. The city database covers locations from the Countries States Cities Database.

Some places have a short description. These are drafted with Google's Gemini model, based on the place name, region, country, facts from Wikidata and any notes we supply, and are marked as AI-assisted. Automatic checks reject texts with figures not found in those facts and near-identical texts.

Privacy

sunrisewhen.com does not use cookies and does not serve third-party advertisements. Anonymous usage statistics are collected via a self-hosted Umami instance. Pages with live weather or UV forecasts request that data directly from Open-Meteo, which receives your IP address and the coordinates of the page's location as part of that request. We do not share any other data with third parties.

Some pages contain affiliate links to products we genuinely recommend. These are clearly marked with rel="sponsored". If you purchase through these links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
